Bute Discs and Horsham Hydraulics – a beaut partnership
Bute Discs partnered with Horsham Hydraulics to take out the 2023 Wimmera Field Days Machine of the Year award.
The partnership saw Bute Discs providing its patented adjustable disc chain system while Horsham Hydraulics designed a frame to match.
The result was an aggressive machine that can control weeds, manage crop residue and prepare the soil for planting, all with fewer passes. And it impressed the judges!
A lot of work went into the design and implementation, and Bute Discs would like to thank Horsham Hydraulics for their efforts and support.
We’d also like to congratulate Horsham Hydraulics owner Brian Nogorcka and his sons and directors of the company, Richard and Eddy. Incredibly, it was 40 years ago that Brian’s father took out the Best New Machine award at the 1983 Wimmera Field Days. On that occasion, Edgar Nagorcka’s 10-bale system bale buncher took out the gong.
Making this year’s award even more special was the competition that Bute Discs and Horsham Hydraulics were up against. There were many excellent machines vying for the award and to end up winning is a proud and humbling achievement.
Three years in the making
Bute Discs weren’t just over the moon with the 2023 Wimmera Field Days Machine of the Year award, we were excited simply to be back at the event.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been three years since the event at Longerenong has been held.
The Wimmera Field Days is a three-day event that’s iconic on the rural Australian calendar. It’s a showcase of the latest developments in farming practice, machinery, equipment, technology and services.
The 2024 event will be held on 5th, 6th and 7th March.

What impressed the judges about Bute Discs and Horsham Hydraulics partnership?
Was it the impressive stubble management, the weed control that can be achieved with less passes, the soil preparation, the machine’s capability for working in tough conditions or the ability to adjust the machine to suit the soil and the conditions? Or perhaps it was the chorus of approval from our clients, who say our disc chains are the best on the market?
